A ceramic collaboration by Ceramics by Franziska and Sheena Davies Photography

"I have always taken pride in only using my own original photography on my pottery pieces but I am now making an exception for the beautiful moon phase images that Sheena had asked me to put on some custom pieces of hers.

It is a natural development of my desire to build more connections and collaborate with other women on many different levels that has been floating around in my mind for a while, and is now starting to manifest. I think I will let Sheena speak for herself to introduce these beautiful new pieces with her art" -Franziska Ditter Ebbesen

My name is Sheena Davies and I am a photographer, grateful to live, work and play on the traditional territory of the Me’luxih and Quw’utsun peoples, also known as Shawnigan Lake BC.

I am a mum of 2, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. My love of photography is connected to my father and my childhood memories of him, always with a camera in his hand. His documentary style, of life and nature on the west coast has imprinted on my heart and is an inspiration behind my work.

This collaboration was born after meeting Franziska, falling in love with her beautiful ceramics and her unique process of transferring photographic images onto clay. Originally it was meant to be a few pieces, for my own personal collection and to gift to my loved ones,

but we both fell in love with my images of the moons on her clay, and the symbolism of two women working together to bring this collaboration to life.

During the 2019 Wolf Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse, I captured these images while my children played on the moonlit beach in Mill Bay BC.

For as long as I can remember I have felt connected to the feminine nature and rhythmic cycles of the moon. I have felt her presence in my life as a guide, illuminating darkness and awakening power and transformation.

I hope you too, find joy in these images, and these incredible pieces of art. Deepest gratitude to Franziska for bringing life to this vision.
